A conference concerned with OpenStack and beer
Sep 30 - Oct 01, 2013 - Bend, OR
It's finally time for the first OpenStack on Ales and we couldn't be more excited. We hope everyone made it to town safely today/tonight or makes it here safe tomorrow.
Registration opens at 8AM. You'll find your badge near the "front" entrance to the Theater & Soaking Pool. Just head on down the hall afterwards and look for other attendees, grab some coffee and snag a seat by 9AM.
For the last three years we have hosted Ruby on Ales here in Bend, Oregon. It has been a great way to give our friends a chance to visit Bend, drink a little, and hopefully learn a thing or two. Now we want to focus this experience on our friends in the OpenStack community. We've been working on OpenStack for the past year and feel that our intimate event will be appreciated in this new technology space.
See the schedule for more details.
Because this is our first year, we are trying out a new "unlockables" concept for the conference. It works the same way as Kickstarter's stretch goals. See the box on the right for details of what is unlocked with each attendee goal reached. Note this is total number of attendees, including speakers and organizers.
With speaker's permission, All presentations at OpenStack on Ales will be recorded and posted on the internet for viewing after the event is over.
OpenStack on Ales is held in Bend right in the center of Oregon. We hold the conference at The Old St. Francis School in a wonderful little gymnasium turned movie theater.
The Old St. Francis School, conveniently located in the center of downtown Bend, has undergone a transformation from 1936 Catholic schoolhouse to lively destination hotel complete with classrooms-turned-lodging rooms, three pubs, brewery and bakery, a movie theater, private meeting and event space, and a truly fantastic soaking pool.
If you are flying to the conference, you'll want to book your flight into Roberts Field in Redmond, Oregon (RDM).
There are shuttles, cabs and rental cars available at the airport. We suggest booking your ride beforehand. The ride from Redmond to Bend takes 15 - 20 minutes, and will cost you around $40 via taxi or shuttle.
